Kristen Schaal

Catalogue of Ships was very happy this week to feature the comedian Kristen Schaal on our program!

If you enjoyed Kristen, she hosts a live show called the Hot Tub Variety Show in New York City. Check out their website for show dates, videos and a blog.

She was recently a featured performer on Comedy Central's "Live at Gotham"

Thanks Kristen! David needed the break.

Now. Does anyone want to fill in for me?

Episode 39 late

Not very late though. I'll have it up by this evening. I wasn't feeling well yesterday (Sunday). I think I got mild food poisoning from a restaurant called Yuca at the corner of 7th and Avenue A in Manhattan.

Even if the food wasn't what hurt me, the restaurant treats its customers like crap. Don't go there.

Search Strings

Before I get to the topic of this post, I just wanted to once again give extra special thanks to the Third Coast International Audio Festival for featuring us this week on their website. The interview was a lot of fun!

Those of you who have websites know that one of the cool things a lot of host services do is show you what search strings have hit your site (i.e. what people Googled that brought up your page). Well, here are some of the ones that hit ours(I've crossed out some personal names that hit the site):

Some of them are hilarious. My favorites:

"Conservative Podcasts" - Uh... Sorry guys. I know some people thought we were going in a "religious right" direction for a little bit, but... Well, hopefully we broke that illusion recently.

"Wedding Toast Mennonite" - Well, this one makes some sense. We do have an episode that deals with Mennonite wedding toasts. Unfortunately, I do not think it will be helpful to that particular user. If anyone wants to offer some advice to someone looking for help writing a Mennonite wedding toast, please feel free. David did a crappy job.

"Ranking Vote 5 stars" - Was this person just looking for ANY content that was rated 5 stars? Nothing more specific than that?

And my favorite:

"Check out pod casts on itunes get catalogue of ships" - just brilliant.

Third Coast International Audio Festival Interview

Be sure to check out the first ever Catalogueo fo Ships interview over at the Third Coast International Audio Festival this week. It was extremely nice of them to feature us. They are one of my favorite organizations in the world. Their entire mission is to seek out and highlight exciting audio work from all over the world, and so we are extremely flattered that they recognized little old us.

Thanks!

It's up. Finally.

Again, I apologize to David and everyone else for being so late this week. But the new episode is up now.

It's a big one too. It's all about David's break with the church. I've mixed in a lot of music from old episodes in addition to adding new stuff. That's part of why it took so long. We've really been building up to this one for a while, so I wanted to make sure to get it just right.

Please don't forget to vote for us over at the Podcast Awards in the categories "Best Produced" and "Cultural/Arts." You can vote every day until the 15th.

Thanks for everything, everybody!

Episode late this week

Hi all. I moved into my new apartment in New York this weekend. This was kind of unexpected. The movers we hired to move us from Chicago gave us a two week window in which they would drop off our stuff, so we didn't know when they would come until the day before. But we got everything moved in, and I will finish this weeks show tonight, hopefully, and have it posted tomorrow morning.

Apologies.

turns out...

that I get sea sick very easily and that the medicine they give you for sea sickenss (called "emetoSTOP" "emeto" being greek for barf and "stop" being english for stop). Also, my suitcase is still in Rome, perhaps it will have something interesting to tell about the world cup fever that surrounds it and is no doubt at least partially responsible for our delayed reunion. Also, if you buy something at a shop in Greece and then decide you don't like it, they will not give you your money back but it can be really entertaining to try and get them to do so.

when you finish nominating us for awards

if you happen to be near the airport in Rome, see if you can't locate my suitcase. It's green with wheels. It has lots of books from the UNC library that will be very expensive to replace. Also of note are the several changes of clothes enclosed within which I will require in order to prevent me from a) smelling horrible b)being naked or c) wearing my landlady's hand me downs. Other than that, Greece is fantastic.

PLEASE HELP CATALOGUE OF SHIPS!!!!

We're gunning for a PodcastAwards Nomination and NEED your help!!

Please go to
